sigur ros in particular is so freakingly great with their songs that give me goosbumps when i listen to them. jonsi birgisson has this ethereal voice that brings to mind slowly falling snowflakes. these are songs that are meant to be played on your headphones at three in the morning, when all you could hear is stillness and quite.neil finn, on the other hand, is singing don't dream it's over; it's a live track i filched from the office network. to be honest, i don't think i know any other crowded house song. i might've heard others, but like most everybody else, there is only one crowded song that i know of. and it's a great song.
the live version is more sober and more relaxed compared to the album version, conjuring images of southern beaches and blue afternoon skies, lying on a hammock and just being happily content. a good state of mind. i think i want to play that on repeat.
there are still a couple of mp3s that i have stashed in gmail that i am currently downloading. i just finished a live version of toad the wet sprocket's all i want (glen phillips almost always sounds like he's full of much repressed anger when he sings). there are a couple of cynthia alexander songs, songs from badly drawn boy, beautiful south, outkast, aimee mann... wow. i stashed quite a lot of good mp3s.
i also realized i'm being pointlessly obsessive, writing down useless details.
i miss my old mp3 collection. it's not particularly large, but it was quirky enough. it's time i try to rebuild it.
postscript: it seems the bad mood of the last few days is finally over.
