i decided to log in this time, and

my display name for friendster is God. i was so tempted to reply to mr. tom with something like:
but i didn't.dear tom,
the correct spelling is "heretic." and the more appropriate term should be "blasphemer" (one who uses the name of god irreverently), not "heretic" (one whose beliefs are contrary to established dogma).
god
anyways, plenty of the inane messages were mostly in the line of:

well, i didn't ask him to look at my profile. i don't see it shattering my world if i don't have him as a fan.
some took the time to actually write rather lengthy messages:

my mental reply was:
this nearly caused me to spill my drink out of my nose:dear the witness,
after four years of catholic school, i do know what blasphemy means and what's it all about. personally, i prefer to believe in a deity that doesn't take his/her/its name too seriously. and it would be good if you would, too.
love,
god

while this takes the prize of WTF-ness:

i had to wiki who st. elizabeth ann seton was.
myspace people have grown weirder than folks i come across friendster.

Okay, for one thing, the word GOD is not a name. It is a title very much like President, Judge, Attorney, and Professor. So, while it may be a bit distracting for someone to use this as a myspace username, it is not blasphemy at all because that is not a personal name at all. God does have a personal name, which should not be used by anyone other than Him.
Maybe you can send them this with a note saying, "For someone hoping to appear pious, you don't sound like you know what you're talking about." and see how they'd react.
