Typhoon Milenyo (international codename Xangsane) slightly weakened before noon Thursday as it approached Metro Manila, weather bureau PAGASA reported.
PAGASA Weather Branch chief Nathaniel Cruz said the typhoon's winds weakened slightly from 130 kilometer per hour to 110 kph after passing the southern part of Quezon province.
Cruz said Milenyo's gusts also decreased from 150 kph to 140 kph.
He said Milenyo might enter Metro Manila early Thursday afternoon. He said the typhoon was 50 kilometers away from Metro Manila as of 11 a.m. and was moving west southwest with a speed of 19 kph.
Disaster officials in the capital had raised the alert level ahead of Milenyo’s arrival, the first typhoon to cross the city since 1995
i'm getty dizzy.
the building has been swaying non-stop since mid-morning, sometimes with the intensity of a mild earthquake. i feel like i'm the middle of a calamity area. i probably am.
what remains of my teammates are stranded in the 32nd floor, watching the rain lashing outside. sometimes the glass windows would visibly shake because of the sudden burst of wind. outside, we could see leaves, trash and even tree branches thrown upwards by the force of wind. below us, on the streets, a couple of trees have been uprooted. every now and then, power would go out, sometimes for as much as ten minutes. i don't fell like running to the lifts right now.
the office have come up with contingencies in case we need to sleep over at the office. food will be given to those people who will be staying inside. the utility personnel have been moving about, closing the blinds over the windows; one has said that a 29th floor window has already cracked and has injured one of the employees.
the initial exhiliration from the ongoing typhoon is gone. we (me and my officemates) are just dizzy, trying to calmly kill time while the storm passes. weather report says the storm will hit manila in about an hour.
i want to go home and snuggle in my bed right now.

One reason why I am thankful to be transferred in a much lower building. I hate being trapped on top while the building shimmies! Ultimate nightmare for me, Sweetie! So I know how you felt that time.
I don't agree with the weather bureau's report about that storm though - it's got to be a 4 or 5. A 3 would not uproot huge Acacia trees or blow over a square billboard like match sticks.
