at least now i have another excuse to get a new phone.

for the first time since i started using mobile phones, i actually lost one. most of my phone before eventually died of old age, until now. i also lost my globe number.

i had my w810i for 10 months. it had been a trusty companion and was almost as versatile as a swiss knife (except that the phone doesnt have a can opener). i bought it primarily because of the music player, and it was heavily used.

the camera was just amazing for a phone and it was a great bonus; one of its photos was even chosen to be included in a calendar. it was the phone i took when i went to bicol and it documented the trip for me. the flash LED also works as a flashlight, and it was in no small way impressive.

one of my favorite applications was the phone's notepad which i used to post reminders on the stand-by screen. daryl once saw the phone's screen with the reminder "you have an umbrella" -- sure it was a bit odd, but it was effective for an easily distracted bastard like me.

but more than the phone itself, i feel sorry for the loss of data. that's an extensive phonebook and a nearly full 1 gig memory stick of files that was in my phone. some of the photos in the memory stick haven't been transferred yet, and i don't have any existing backups.

it was stupid really, the phone fell out of my pocket while i was inside a bus one weekend. i tried sending it a message asking the finder to return the phone to me. two hours since i got out of the bus, my globe number is already unreachable. when i told the story to edel, she said that she hoped that phone was able to help someone.
