1997 2007 seemed marked by too many people passing away. I know almost ten people whose parents or close relatives had passed away during the course of the year.
A few days after New Year, a long-time friend told me she already gave birth to her first son; she will be the first person I personally know who would become a new parent this year. I think it's a good sign. I think most people would rather hear of births than of people passing.
edit (9:50pm): did i write 1997? i meant 2007. man, that was fucked up. i was thinking about writing a college freshman entry but i was not able to properly get it all sorted out in my head. anyways, now you know in what year i entered college.
