The Techie and Gadgets Meme

lifted from paul.

Mobile Phones:
1.) First cellphone unit ( make and model ) - a black Motorola V2288, way back 2001.

2.) Favorite cellphone unit - it's a toss between my old W810 and the new N82. my N82 has GPS, HSDPA and wifi connectivity but my W810 had a powerful torch which isn't something to underestimate during a power failure.

3.) Current cellphone unit - a rather heavily used Nokia N82; a recent acquaintance laughed when he saw the chipping paint around the camera lens. i also have an even more heavily used Nokia 1110.

Handheld Consoles:
4.) First Handheld game console - non-gamer here, aside from borrowing daryl's Nintendo DS Lite.

5.) Favorite Handheld game console -

6.) Current handheld game console -

Desktop PCs:
7.) First PC (Desktop) Specs - PEE-CEE, as i called him, ran on a 1.8 GHz AMD Athlon, with a 128 MB RAM and a 40 GB hard drive. geeks might favor AMD over Pentium, but the tropical weather is not friendly to AMD. eventually it died of heat stroke. but even before that, it was a temperemental bastard that made me endure multiple OS changes (at one time i switched from Win 98 to ME to XP then back to 98 until i settled to running on dual OS, as requested by my sister).

8.) Current PC (Desktop) Specs - ask JV, it's his computer.

9.) The PC Specs you always wished for: processing power of at least 5 high-end iMacs, at least a pair of kick-ass drawing tablet, high resolution photo printer, wide format printer, graphics and animation software that's straight out of Pixar, and some sushi-shaped flash drive.

Laptops:

10.) First Laptop - haven't owned one. yet.

11.) Current Laptop -

12.)The Laptop you always dreamed of - a shock, splash and dust resistant little dude with enough juice to do video editing while we're in the middle of a rainforest while connected online using a satelite phone.

Game Consoles:
13.) First Game Console - non-gamer here.

14.) Favorite Game Console -

15.) Current Game Console -

16.) First PC Game ever played - Frogger, way back in 1993.

17.) Favorite PC Game ever played -

18.) Last PC Game played - Heroes of Might and Magic, a Christmas 2002 gift from Rej and Dante.

19.) Palm or Pocket PC? - i have a Palm TX. i've never had a Pocket PC so i couldn't really compare.

20.) What's your MP3 player and capacity? - i started with my much beloved and missed Sony Ericsson W810 until i lost the unit. it was followed by my Palm (which had a so-so mp3 player) until its 3.5 mm stopped working. now i use my N82.

21.) Aside from your cellphone, PDA and laptop - What other gadget you can never be without? -

22.) First Wristwatch - probably some Casio, i already forgot.

23.) Favorite Wristwatch -

24.) Current Wristwatch - none. it was my mom who insisted that i wear wrist watches, but i never got into the habit.

25.) Ultimate Dream Gadget - a steam-powered counting machine. a large, mostly transparent clock as one of the walls of my house (a clock wall, not a wall clock). a hidden camera, like a digital version of the cigarette camera in roman holiday.

This might change things for me, as I'm considering getting an AMD dual-core processor next. Thanks for relating your experience. :D

i dunno if they've improved since a few years ago, but daryl's computer also used AMD and he has a turbo fan blowing into it everytime he's using his computer. same thing with mine before; my mom couldn't understand why i insist on removing the cover of the chasis.

it's a shame, really. i think AMD gives better performance than pentium but they just heat up so much faster.

true, true...

dearie... inasmuch as my stupid computer at our place isn't much, i'm quite confident that the celeron should survive us longer. the only thing i gotta put in there is another memory module and a BIGGER HDD.

The intake on my desktop's busted and I've been doing the same thing for around two years now. Maybe I'll get a CPU case with more ventilation and maybe an extra cooling fan.

if you're on an AMD technology, seriously, you should get yourself an A/C unit as well. and that's just for the machine, and not for yourself yet.
