come on, admit it.
do you remember that blue's clues episode where they mixed colors and came up with chartreuse?
so joe was mixing primary colors and came up with the secondary colors (orange, green, and purple). then he started mixing a primary and secondary color to come up with the tertiary colors:
blue + purple = violet
red + orange = vermilion
blue + green = aquamarine
yellow + green = chartreuse
yellow + orange = marigold
red + purple = magenta
as i was watching it, i was thinking "vermilion? aquamarine? marigold? in a pre-schoolers' show? and where the fuck did they pull the name chartreuse from?"
things were simpler when we just called it yellow-green, but then it's not as interesting.
chartreuse, it turns out, was named after a french liqueur. there are two varieties of chartreuse, green and yellow; the color chartreuse was taken from the color of green chartreuse.
some people might think that a program for pre-schoolers that throws away words like "chartreuse" ("how the fuck do you spell/pronounce it anyways?") is getting away with too much, but i think it's cool that they are challenging kids to learn further.
and heck, a program that will get a color name from a french liqueur kick so much ass.

i saw that episode once pero hindi ako nagstop over. nosebleed! hahah. i remember i had a box of crayon with 24 colors and it had yellow-green and green-yellow, both combo of yellow and green but with different shades, one more greenish than yellow. basta ang color wheel ko dati dapat may 18 slices. nyahahah
hahahaha! we have a copy of that episode :-P
i learned the word "chartreuse" from something less kick-ass: sweet valley high. LMAO!
i learned "chartreuse" from the Anita Blake series...hehe...
And the fact that a hottie like Joe is hosting it, helps it kick butt even harder. Y/Y???
i first encountered this colour back in 1997 when Nicole Kidman wore this chartreuse chinoiserie from John Galliano’s first Christian Dior couture collection on her first appearance at the Oscars
ako naman I was looking for a favorite color na shade ng yellow (because I love yellow!) hahaha sa Wikipedia actually. Meron silang shades dun. E gusto ko yung hue! PLUS its french! hehehe isnt my favorite color so gay?! CHARTREUSE! hahaha visit my multiply site pala, its CHARTREUZZZE! hehe
salamat sa 'useful' na information jade... they didn't teach this in kindergarten. buti naman haha! eh di nag nosebleed siguro ako ng bongang bonga =_)
Frick, napanood ko rin yung episode na yun. Afterward, I kept asking people if they knew what color chartreuse is. Gademit, so yellow-green's not good enough these days?
mas bakla pakinggan ang chartreuse eh. hahaha.
although napahiya ako. chartreuse isn't as exotic a color name as i thought it was.
one of these days, i'm going to figure out the origin of bonggang-bongga. linktek na phrase yan, kung saan saan ko na lang nae-encounter.
but chartreuse is halfway between yellow and green.
although the color of yellow chartreuse (the liqueur) is more yellow than green.
next time i'll solve the mystery kung bakit 7 ang kulay ng rainbow: 3 primaries, 3 secondaries and 1 tertiary color. what's so special about indigo?
from what i remember, sweet valley kicks considerable ass kaya. kaso masyado syang pinned sa mid to late 90s. do post-pubescent girls these days still read sweet valley?
isn't she that vampire story writer?
sadly, i don't like joe; although he introduced different colored sweaters.
si steve burns ang gusto ko. :-)
at talagang na-recover pa yung image, ah.
i though she had white lacy cloth coming from her buttocks. gown pala nung nasa likod nya.
beckiness everywhere i go hahaha! remember my irrevocably becky cousin? kasambahay ko na naman, grabe riot everyday =_)
At isa pa lang sya, huh. Imagine our apartment pag nagsama-sama kaming tatlo.
