The individual fireworks were pretty blah on their own.

so much for planning ahead.
i planned to watch the new year countdown in ayala and take photos of the fireworks. but one thing led to another, and i figured i'd rather catch more sleep instead.
besides, i reasoned, i should have a good view of the makati skyline from the apartment. so i decided i'd take photos of the new year fireworks from my apartment instead.
so it's 10 minutes before midnight and i already had the camera and tripod ready and what do i see before me but illuminated smoke. it had be drizzling all night and the foggy atmosphere made manila even smoggier that usual.
either the smog diffused the light from the fireworks, or there aren't much fireworks this year. it's still a let down; i could have had another hour of sleep if i knew i shouldn't have bothered much.
but hey, 2008 is over and good riddance to that awful year. hello 2009, let's hope you'll be so much better.
it took me ages to get a cab. there usually are cabs parked outside the apartment compound; but since it's the new year, i know there wouldn't be any later.
what i didn't realize that there'd be hardly any cabs left by 2 am. the cabs that do pass the street were already occupied.
eventually i did get an empty cab. driving through the quiet, smoggy makati streets reminded me of silent hill. i was half expecting some hideous abomination to surprise us and jump on to the cab at some dimly-lit street corner.
the cab was driven by a rather grim guy who's occasionally swear "what the fuck" (that's verbatim) when he gets annoyed. intriguing guy. except that i didn't notice him setting the cab meter until the time we were in front of our building, afterwhich he asked for a hundred pesos (cab fare is usually just 70 pesos). what the fuck.
i know i was late, but what was worse was that i forgot my ID (of all things, and of all days!) which added further delay to me logging in.
man, what a way to start the year.
happy new year to everyone.

substandard cam + bad weather + smoke + good fireworks = bad photos :( andaming kong bad photos tongiht.
uhmm...ala pa akong DSLR... heheh. kaya pre-set lahat. and ala pang tripod. lolz. badtrip nga eh. have to get a good cam na. PnS cam na semi SLR.
hindi rin naman dslr yung cam ko. pero may manual settings, so oks na rin.
pag may dslr ka na, gala tayo to take photos. :-)
wahahahaha! ok lang yan. at least, PROMOTED KA NA! :D
bili ka na ng car. tas don't forget your ID next time. :D
2009 will be so much better for us...
:P
i know. sana makalipat na kayo ng bahay soon!
first time ko nakalimutan ID ko. masyado akong nagwo-worry sa card holder ko na hindi ko na naman mahanap. mwahahaha.
speaking of lipat-bahay... we have a potential incident.
hay nako... andun ba sa gubat ko'ng kuwarto yung card holder mo?
potential incident?
i'll find out. i'll do some hauling of stuff in the next few days. do you want to keep the hanger stand?
nah... i'm so frightened that it might crash on to my head while asleep that it cracks my skull, spills out my brains, guts, and all my innards, that i bleed all over the bedroom and die without glamor.
basta. laters. :)
