I've been tagged at least 8 times to come up with this meme (the first one was from my friend Aggie) but it took me a long time to complete all 25 items. I've answered an earlier version of the meme (list 10 randoms things about yourself) at least twice before, so it's becoming hard to come up with other personal factoids without repeating what I've already written before.
But anyways.
1. I very rarely watch TV.
2. I sometimes sing audibly while I walk down the street because I don't know how to whistle.
3. There are days when I consciously avoid wearing something blue. Except our company ID is blue, so that defeats the entire no-blue-item-getup thing.
4. I dislike being forced to memorize something I really don't want to memorize. During second grade, my mother once sat all night forcing me to memorize Annabel Lee. By midnight, I was crying out of frustration and sleepiness.
5. In my apartment, I use a step-ladder as a bookshelf because I don't know where to keep it.
6. I still don't know how to swim.
7. Things I don't eat or drink (even though I don't have any medical reason not to) include apples, squash, and coffee.
8. I learned about sex from a science book. Seriously.
9. During kindergarten, I submitted an art project which my teacher hung on the bulletin board. It was a landscape done mostly using turquoise art paper. I also signed it with my name readable only by its reflection on a mirror.
10. I sometimes wear unusual, odd, or funny hats just for kicks. My current favorite is a kid's cap that looks like the head of a teddy bear that I bought from a thrift shop.
11. I don't wear cologne or perfume. During my teenage years, my mom bought me perfume which I'd use 3 times then forget about it. A few months later, she would try again with a different perfume but with the same results until she eventually gave up. The perfumes ended up with my dad.
12. I recently developed a liking for having individual nails painted in different colors of nail polish. It amuses the manicurists when they see me picking and arranging colors for my nails.
13. Whenever I travel outside of Manila, I bring a plush toy monkey with me, and usually take a photo of him in that place I visited. I call him Annabel.
14. I was a professional Tarot reader for about 2 years. I have 14 decks of Tarot cards plus a non-Tarot oracle deck in my collection.
15. Ever since I was a kid, sometimes when I close my eyes, I could see a perpetually expanding landscape like an old family banig (sleeping mat). I am falling towards it but it grows deeper as I fall so I'm trapped in a continuous falling sensation until I open my eyes.
16. I often don't like how I appear in photos. That's why I'm often the person who takes photos.
17. My 3 favorite movies (in chronological order) are: Butterflies Are Free, Happy Together, and Magnolia. My favorite book of fiction is probably "Kitchen" by Banana Yoshimoto. My favorite song (consistently for the last 6 years or more) is "All I Want" by Toad the Wet Sprocket.
18. I collect and use bags made for little kids that look like stuffed toys. Currently I have three: a monkey in a striped sweater, a Care Bear (Cheer Bear), and a Totoro.
19. My favorite comicbook is a little-known mini-series called St. Swithin's Day by Grant Morisson. I was able to obtain all published copies of it: all of the 4-part mini-series, the colored one-shot compilation, and the republished version from Oni Press.
20. I can't bend and reach my toes while keeping my knees straight. It's been that way since I was a kid.
21. I'm very rarely starstruck. However, here are 6 instances when I was genuinely starstruck:
(i) Eating pizza with a small group including Cynthia Alexander during lunch break at work.
(ii) Seeing Gloria Romero in an MRT station and (iii) seeing Imelda Marcos in Megamall.
(iv) Seeing Palito walking along Avenida near Doroteo Jose Street.
(v) Being an extra (I was one of the restaurant crowd) in a movie scene with Jaclyn Jose where (vi) I shared a dinner table with and sat next to Papa Dom.
22. I was so sad when Elliott Smith died, I wrote a eulogy for him. The only other people I wrote eulogies for were my friend Gibz and my maternal grandfather.
23. I still keep a blue stick-on note with me and my ex's names written on it pasted at the door of what used to be our bedroom. It was a thank you note from girl friends who slept over in our apartment. I will keep it there until it falls off or I move out of the apartment, whichever comes first.
24. For the longest time, I thought my favorite color was named moss green (#ADDFAD). The shade is actually somewhere between fern (#4F7942) and sap green (#507D2A).
25. My favorite font is 10pt Georgia.
Whew. That's like 25 mini-entries in one go.
