last night was the first time i was able to sleep lying down.

i kept waking up every few hours to readjust myself and look for a more comfortable position, but at least i didn't have to leave the bed. for a week before last night, i had to sleep on the couch sitting down because even lying on my back was painful.

walking is also easier. i still have to stop every few meters and sometimes crouch to ease the pain in my hip and right leg; at least i could walk longer distances now, if not more-or-less comfortably, but with tolerably less discomfort.

sometimes, the pain is worse than i let on. man, that sounded SO emo. i have become more conscious of the movements of my body and how i should control it in a way that will not hurt that much. walking used to be so effortless. my body might not have moved in the most graceful manner, but i did not have to measure the movements of my feet, how much i should raise my legs, or how i should bend my back. it's not a few times that i wondered if this condition will become permanent; once or twice, i've thought about the merits of having a walking cane as a fashion accessory.

but right now, even minor improvements are worth celebrating. i was able to get reasonably decent sleep! man, uninterrupted sleep is such as blessed, blessed thing.

the other night, daryl snapped at me for forcing myself to stand up for extended periods and walk even while my condition is still pretty bad. and i can't blame him. but getting stuck in the house for three days without being able to move is enough punishment; there's only so much updates on pinoy big brother that i could tolerate watching. i need to get around, walk, and exercise my legs. it's pretty close to learning to walk all over again.
